Top Tips for Stress Free Christmas Shopping

It’s that time of year again and Christmas is creeping up. At a time when carols are playing in every shop and department stores are packed with shoppers who are panicking about what to buy, you need to make sure that your Christmas shopping trip is as stress free as possible. It doesn’t have to be full of panic and it doesn’t have to be all about sold out toys. The best thing about Christmas shopping is that it can be as fun as you make it.

People tend to spend a lot of money around the holidays and even if they’ve been planning all through the year about what to buy, we still end up leaving. It’s at the last minute most of the time because the time just runs away from us. You need to be able to go out and spend on Christmas presents without having to panic. The best way to do that is to take on the tips below so that you can make your Christmas shopping experience as stress free as possible.

  • Start right now. Ideally, you’ve already started, but if you haven’t got started already, shopping in October is probably the best way to go. This way you don’t have to panic that you’re going to be shoulder to shoulder with other shoppers raiding shelves in early December. Even worse, Christmas Eve. You might also find that the annoying thing about Christmas shopping is that by December, a lot of things that you want are sold out. It’s especially the case if you want to buy any Christmas trees or decorations. You should be buying those as early as you can.
  • Make your budget and stick to it. Before you head out for a day of Christmas shopping, make yourself a list and know exactly what you’re going to buy. If possible, search online for the places you need to buy these things from so that you can plan your shopping trip to be systematic. You can move from shop to shop seamlessly, picking up what you need and getting out of the door before anything else. No browsing allowed.
  • Lists are your friend. Having a list with you is really going to make a big difference to your shopping trip experience. Lists keep you on track and they help you to know what you’re buying, whether it’s food shopping or Christmas presents. If you know what you’re buying, list the store next to the person and the item so that you don’t get lost along the way and make sure that you tick off as you go.
  • Dress for the event. Christmas shopping can be an extreme sport and make sure that you are wearing sneakers and comfy clothing. You want to be able to keep your feet pain free and you need to be able to move seamlessly from store to store. Don’t forget you’re going to be pounding the pavement and you want this to go easy.
  • Get fuelled up before you head out on your trip. Eat a solid breakfast so that you are ready to go. You don’t want to have to stop and get something to eat when you are full of bags.
